Baby Jeffrey

Our little Jeffrey West was born last weekend. Here are some pictures we've taken this week so you can feel a bit like you're here with us!
Meeting their brother for the first time, a few hours after he was born (Born 2:18pm, siblings came that evening around 5:30). I had an excellent birth experience. I'll talk all about it if you want me to ask about it...:)
I thought this was cute - Laura looks a bit shell-shocked! She wasn't sure that was really my baby. "Are you SURE that's yours?" She asked.
One of our first pictures of the little guy moments after his birth.
 Dad and son.
Hanging out in the recovery room with baby. Someone commented that he already has the "stink face" down.

At home on Saturday night - 1 week old.
Grandma Ann meeting him for the first time on their way back home from the airport post-Norway.

Grandpa Don meeting him for the first time.
 A little floor dancing.
Tiny little bird legs! When Jared saw Jeffrey's legs for the first time, he was amazed at how smal they were, "Is that all there is?"
 A little ear.
What he looks like in his carseat.
Grandma Stephanie - she has been with us several days this past week helping me and doing great Grandma things with the kids. Kirk and Lindsay's baby girl was born the day before Jeffrey, so she's had double-duty here in Washington!

He loves sleeping on his dad!
Cutie after his first bath at home.
 Squishy face.

What we see almost all day long. He is awake all early morning (2-6am) but is still sweet and only makes sounds when he's hungry or needs a diaper to be changed. We love having little Jeffrey in our family!

Steve and Steph's Spring Break: Machu Picchu!

With our best wishes on this Mother's Day!

Though it's easily overshadowed by more recent events (wedding plans! Everest!) Steve and I wanted to share a few favorites from our recent adventure to Peru.

In March we travelled with four friends to visit Machu Picchu--something we've both wanted to do for a long time! After arriving and spending one day in Cusco, we set off on the Inca Trail.

For four days we enjoyed the breath-taking views as we worked our way through the majestic Andes mountains.

It was fascinating to learn about and see the still-intact ruins of the Inca Empire.

And one of us (*ahem*) turned out to be rather keenly interested in llamas...

It was an absolutely unforgettable trip!

Now we're all wishing Steve good luck and safe conditions on Everest!
Way to go!!

Bradshaws -- April/May 2013
And a Mother's Day wish from Oregon . . . Mom, we love you and are grateful for your encouragement and support! Here's an update on recent Bradshaw happenings:

Becca – learning something new every day. She will now walk in her walker and blow kisses. She had a recent week when she couldn’t keep any food down . . . stressful and messy but she seems to be back to normal now.

Hannah – scoring goals on her soccer team the Tornadoes. She is also getting ready for her big dance recital. This year she will not only dance with her class as a “falling star” but also as a sheep in the opening ballet. She is so cute!! She loves to read and I can hardly get to the library often enough to keep her stocked. We all loved being at Sam's baptism and Hannah is counting down till she turns 8 (she has to turn 7 first!)

Josh – also scoring goals on his soccer team. Reading, reading, reading. Book project due last week on a biography of Tom Thumb. Tennis. Played the piano for “festival” and received a “superior rating.”

Awesome 3000: The first Saturday in May is a huge running event for kids here in Salem. They run heats by grade divided into girls and boys. Josh ran a 2K and Hannah a 1.5K. There were over 4000 runners with hundreds in each heat. Josh and Hannah both did awesome and finished in the top 10.

Marianne – playing tennis?!? Yes, really. John signed us up to play on a mixed doubles team and so I’ve gone to a couple clinics in order to avoid embarrassing myself (and John). We had our first match last Friday (thanks to Rich & Brittany for providing child care and moral support). We lost but I did not double fault every time and even had a few returns that went in. We had a fun temple outing when John's mom was here with Mom, Laura and Kathryn.

John – Playing tennis. Has lots of tennis buddies who are always texting him to go play. And played with a couple of teams.

Lucy -- Had her 4th birthday on 5/2. The kids celebrated by making her a "cake" from slices of cheese, slices of leftover steak and slices of apples. There was much doggy rejoicing!

Another Happy Mother's Day Wish!

Happy Mother's Day 2013!
From Tom, Kathryn, Jared, Laura, and Upcoming Arrival

Everyone love having Grandma and Grandpa close by!
And living in the Northwest is always a fun adventure! Case in point: Triple Falls.
Having you nearby to support us and the kids in all we do is a great blessing. Recognition nights are all the better with you to cheer them on!
New additions to the family are already welcome. Thank you for hosting Kathryn's baby shower!
What a great group of walkers, bikers and river-rock-throwers!

Have a wonderful trip to Norway! We love you and appreciate you!
